FLOODING IN MY FLAT IN ILEX HOUSE!

In November 6, 2017 I came home from work to find that part of my flat was flooded with water. I called the emergency department and they came swiftly.

My daughter’s room was a mess, her walls, mattress, play station console, curtain, clothes and other items were ruined. The flood was coming from the 7th floor and affected flats right down to the first floor. This flood was serious!

My kitchen was also flooded. To cut a long story short I informed Islington Council that I will be claiming from their insurance. This has taken approximately 3 months. I got a letter last week from Islington Council’s insurance stating that they are not liable for the damage caused. Can someone please tell me “was this my fault”? Islington Council has already done repairs on my daughters walls. They striped it, lined it and painted it. Surely if they were not responsible, why would they even repair my daughters room?

I’m so fed up with Islington Council, so who is responsible for this? I will not take this lying down!

  1. Mary hi, if it’s any help the tenants at flat number 80 may be able to recommend solicitors to you, as they have had to fight the Council over flooding issues and other things from their boiler
